The EPL-16BS-1X150LED-UV365-100 Explosion Proof LED Light from Larson Electronics is rated Class I Division 1-2 Groups C & D and Class II Division 1-2 and uses a 16 inch LED light head to produce ultraviolet light while drawing only 100 watts.

The EPL-16BS-1X150LED-UV365-100 explosion proof LED light provides 38,400 mW of precise 365 nanometer ultraviolet LED light output. This portable LED light is mounted to a four leg aluminum base and has an LED light head measuring 16 inches wide by 14 inches tall. The LED light head on this unit produces a brilliant flood pattern of light that is ideal for illuminating enclosed areas and hazardous locations where flammable vapors, gases and dusts may be present.

The EPL-16BS-1X150LED-UV365-100 uses LED light technology, a technology that is far better in energy saving than traditional bulbs used for the same purposes. Traditional ultraviolet lights require a coating to block out visible light or a special composition of gases and chemicals used to create a higher concentration of ultraviolet light. This process, however, also produces many other wavelengths of light which go unused and end up as wasted energy. LED lights are unique in that they have a narrower wavelength band than traditional ultraviolet sources and therefore do not require these special coatings. As a result, LED lights do not produce unused, wasted light and therefore consume less energy than traditional UV lights on the market. LED lights have the added benefit of being capable of producing very specific wavelengths with tighter curves and are more durable and light weight as well.

Ultraviolet Wavelength: Ultraviolet A Wavelength produces a longer wave between the 400nm - 315nm spectrum. This explosion proof LED light has a peak wavelength of 365NM. The high output LEDs and compact form factor makes this portable inspection light the ideal replacement for Class I Division 1 400 watt metal halide lamps with ultraviolet bandpass or cutoff filters.

This explosion proof LED light fixture is comprised of a 16 inch LED light head mounted atop a base stand fabricated from non sparking aluminum. The lamp can be easily adjusted up or down 90 degrees and locked into position by simply loosening the two hand screws located on either side of the light head and re-tightening them once the desired angle is found. Included with this LED light is 100 feet of SOOW cord terminating in an explosion proof plug.

The explosion proof LED light head in this unit features multiple LED drivers which helps to increase the operational life of the fixture. With traditional LED lights, in the event an LED array or driver fails, the entire fixture no longer illuminates. This new series of LED lamps contains twelve individual LED boards configured in a series of banks. Each bank contains two LED boards with an individual driver. In the event of a driver failure, only one bank of LEDs will be effected while the other banks will continue to operate. In the event that of an LED failure, the mating LED will continue to operate.

Unlike gas burning and arc type lamps that have glass bulbs, LEDs have no filaments or fragile housings to break during operation. Instead of heating a small filament or using a combination of gases to produce light, light emitting diodes (LEDs) use semi-conductive materials that illuminate when electric current applied and emitting light. With LED lights, there is no warm up time or cool down time before re-striking and provide instant illumination when powered on, adding to the reliability of LED technology. By nature, LED light sources run significantly cooler than traditional lamps, reducing the chance of accidental burns and increased temperatures due to heat emissions. This solid state design of light emitting diodes provides a more reliable, stable, durable, and energy efficient light source over traditional lighting.

Safety within the workplace is another benefit of LED work lights and temporary lighting. All light sources produce heat. With traditional work lamps, such as incandescent and halogen light sources, the lamp reaches high surface temperatures. These surface temperatures introduce a burn risk to anyone to anyone that allows prolonged skin contact with the light source, as well as a fire hazard if a flammable material is accidentally set too close to the light source for an extended period of time. While LED fixtures do still produce heat, they are designed with heat sinks to properly disperse the heat. Each LED bulb is engineered to disperse and expel this heat quickly and efficiently, keeping the lamp cooler than traditional light sources. This explosion proof LED work light operates at a lower surface temperature than a comparable model with traditional light source, and thus does not present a significant burn risk if an operator or bystander accidentally brushed up against an exposed lamp, and reduce the fire hazard should they fixture accidentally come in contact with a flammable material for a short period of time. This significantly increases the safety within the work environment.

This explosion proof flood light is equipped with 100 foot of 16/3 chemical and abrasion resistant SOOW cord that is fitted with an explosion proof cord cap for easy connection to common wall outlets. Plug options include 5-15P 15 amp straight blade plug for 110-125V explosion proof outlets, explosion proof 5-20P 20 amp straight blade plug for 110-125V explosion proof outlets, or explosion proof 6-20P 20 amp straight blade plug for 220-250V explosion proof outlets.

This unit is also multi-voltage capable and can configured to operate on 120-277 volts 50/60 Hz. Further adding to the versatility and convenience of this explosion proof LED light are 25 peel off mylar overspray lamp protectors that ship with the unit. The protectors provide lamp protection from dirt or debris and can be removed, cleaned and replaced, lessening the need for tedious lamp cleaning or replacements. This lamp is T5 temperature rated and the LED light head retains 80% of its light output after 60,000 hours of use, far longer than incandescent or fluorescent lamps.
