Built in 1760. Demolished in 1934. The Arthur & Mattie Marden House was built in 1760 in the town of Newburyport, Massachusetts. The builder and early owners prior to the 19th century are not known. The earliest owner known is Henry Griffin in 1821 who was a merchant and ship owner. He probably remodeled the exterior of the house with new trim and windows, much as it appears today. He later sold the house to William Morse in 1826 who sold it to his son. His son bequeathed it to his wife upon his death and she, in turn sold it to the Marden's in 1858. The house was later sold to the State of Massachusetts as part of the planned demolition of the neighborhood for the Route 1 Highway Cut-off project. The house may be gone today, but this reconstructed model shows the building as it appeared prior to demolition. This model is COPYRIGHT PROTECTED. USE OF THIS MODEL WITHOUT PERMISSION IS PROHIBITED. Model developed for Capstone Boston Architectural College.
