My Name is Miles Tirman, I am a Junior at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design. This is a submission for our Computer Aided Design (CAD) 2 class, Instructor Julian Hurrle.

I have never been the one to get piercings or tattoos, I typically tend to admire them from afar as I think they look quite cool but why put something permanent on your body when you can just google an image or look at other peoples (this is just my stance). Over the years I noticed a lot of people have dragons either tattooed or on some piece of jewelry. Dragons are a rather powerful symbol and typically not see on gauges often, so I thought why not make a dragon gauge?

Plus they're kinda cool.

As a result a medium sized dragon gauge piece of jewelry emerged from solidworks. I wanted to try my take on making a dragon but also surfacing and modelling one in solidworks (2/10 would not recommend making a dragon in solidworks).

Design wise there is a dragons head on one end, the gauge itself is the body of the dragon so to put this on your would "snake" it through the hole in your ear starting with the tail. The body is "clear plastic" with a material highlight running through it. In the render I showed this material via the use of different stones, this material is completely modular and depending on the color the mood of the dragon can change. A lighter color may make the teeth show more making it more aggressive versus a darker color.

On the body are two rubber rings which sit in front and behind the ear lobe to keep the gauge in place.

TL:DR

6mm Dragon ear gauge with a glass body with a material highlight. Color / material / finish is modular, in this case it is a gloss finish. 2 rubber rings on body to stop gauge from sliding. Dragons are cool.

SUBMITTED:

Original STL and IGES. It's a 6mm gauge, it is very much within the size limits.

3D printing method, can be printed via FDM, SLS, SLA, Polyjet. To get the clear material it would have to be SLA though.
