4660 Nereus scaled one in eight thousand by tato_713
by Thingiverse
Last crawled date: 4 years, 6 months ago
I did not render this model, I just resize, soften and simplified it using Microsoft 3D Builder, to share the same scale as other objects. The original file is from the collection of asteroid radar detection of the PDS site.
The file's names explained: name_1_x_10_y.stl is 1 : x * 10y. So _1_6_10_7 is 1:600000000 or one in 60 million.4660 Nereus
This skyscraper sized asteroid makes several close approach to Earth per decade because its near 2:1 orbital resonance with it. It was never visited by an space probe, but it was the target of the NEAR Shoemaker mission, that made flyby of Mathilde and Eros; and Hayabusa, that visited Itokawa.
Type: Near Earth Asteroid. Potentially hazardous asteroid.
Orbit: Sun. Apollo group.
Orbital period: 663.47 d.
Rotational period: 15 h 6 min.
Composition: Silicate rock. Xe type.
Density: ?
Dimensions: 510 m × 330 m × 241 m
Model scale: 1:3x103 (15cm) 1:8x103 (7cm)
