41/8 Globoid Gear set

41/8 Globoid gear set is a better alternative to Cone Drive gears produced in USA, MI because of higher accuracy of the tooth surface. No lapping needed after machining. The CAD model is accurate for finished machining. Notice two surfaces on the flank - this is the correct tooth surface. Often, there are three separate surfaces on the flank. All these surfaces need to be correctly calculated. The benefit of Globoid is higher load capacity and higher driving efficiency. Globoid gears are commonly used on high torque winches on all the ships produced by Russia including the biggest Soviet icebreakers and modern subs. Oil industry uses them for gear operated valves. Automotive industry is using Globoid gears for electric power steering mechanisms. Flight control actuators benefit from very high accuracy. The worm tooth can be modeled easy in CAD. But the gear tooth needs complex mathematics. I had to write a special VBA Macro to generate iges of the gear tooth.
