This design involves a 4 point guide & support system for the drawers utilizing a "PBC Linear" Low profile linear guide system along with the fixed position top (sheet metal) cover which smoothly guides and supports the drawer.

information about the LPM series, many similar options are also offered at low cost for the small space restrictions within the current containment unit. available here : http://www.pbclinear.com/LPM-Low-Profile-Mini-Rail-Linear-Guide

*******
1. Original design called for the cover to be made of gauge 9 sheet metal

New Design changes:

-22 gauge sheet metal cover, annealed stainless steel. Which is less expensive to manufacture, while still providing adequate security as a drawer cover.
- The Hemmed edge will provide added rigidity and strength in supporting the drawer.
- 6 x m2 screws needed to install the Cover.

-The Drawers require a .05 radius on the outside top edges which mate with the inside bend radii in the sheet metal.
-The guide is located 1 inch from the top of each drawer, regardless of drawer size.
- Material for drawers can range from acrylic, to aluminum or stainless steel. *Side walls would need two machining processes* (mating fillet and hem guide)

2. Possible method for transition from old solution to new would consist of building a template frame which follows the existing dimensions and fits as a single structure into the containment unit.

Once the old drawers and hardware are removed,
The structure may be fastened to the back wall of the existing design.

3. Problem I encountered with this is the 24V DC powered locks must be positioned behind the drawers which then also need a type of striker bolt component and thus not fit into the existing containment unit. For the purpose of the challenge I will attempt to find a better solution that fits within the restrictions.

(have not updated the locking mechanism, but someone else who invested a lot of time in this challenge copied the exact locking mechanism layout so I am assuming it might be okay.)
