Edit 7/26/19 - It has been 2 years since I've released this Cube3 upgrade. I have decided to release the STL files at this time. You are welcome to remix this set but only if you adhere to the applicable license applied to this Thing. On a side note, I have abandoned this particular implementation for a more robust system that utilizes the original cartridge case. It is known as a Universal Hub on Print3DForum.com. Also known as B2B, or back to basics. It requires a tricky implementation but the advantages are extensive even over printed hub alternatives. These efforts include an alternative hotend housing, no more quick fittings to tear up tubing or failed grippers. I am Tommy Dee on the forum. Please register with print3dforum.com to see posted images. If you do wish to work with this solution, please enjoy the new release and make the most of it for yourself and feel free to share it with others in accordance with the applied license. I am the original designer of these parts.
For those 3DS Cube 3 owners: This submission is to replace the stock 3DS cartridges with a bulk filament hub for improved performance and convenience. The core option is a remote filament solution. Everything in a stock cartridge will convert to this solution.
NOTE: This "solution" provides a push-to-connect fitting with either an M5 or M6 thread to connect to a feeder tube of your making. There are 4mm tubing and hot-end solutions and some have had luck with 3mm tubing. With another adapter, even the stock tubing can be put back into service. Although that is where 90% of filament feed problems spawn from.
These are only useful for Cube 3 printers, so that is the format of the print files.
The included STL is an accessory template in case you want to make your own spool holder.
The included despoolers are for the stock 3DS spool.
Feel free to make your own accessory with the included template file in STL format.
Attaching an accessory to the clamp requires 2 each M5 cap screws (common bicycle hardware).
The screw length can be from 8-12mm long. Other mounting options can be imagined.
