I wanted an appealing and safe way to store / transport my game set so I decided to use an existing commercial case and adapt it to my needs. you can find the case available from TableWar Designs.
The storage boards are designed to hold 9 tiles from the JAWong set: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:26979, Variations http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1132283 and other tiles compatible with JAWong's tile design. While it is possible for these boards to be used for tiles without the magnetic bases I have not tested it. The magnetic bases I used were Isolt's 18, 3mm spherical ball magnet design: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1108968.
Magnets are embedded into the board to interact with at least 4 sides of each tiles magnetic base. This allows the tiles to remain secure during transport and prevents them from jostling free. The magnets are aligned at the center line of each tiles side and the configuration is only compatible with Islot's 18 magnet base design. The magnets embedded into the boards are 1/8" diameter rare earth and are also available from the TableWar Design site. Each board is designed for 25 of these magnets.
Due to the size of the boards I found it necessary to cut the model into 3 sections to make them more printable, however this weakened the longitudinal strength of the board once it was assembled. To compensate for this each board piece junction is designed with 2 1cm deep holes to to insert a nominal 2cm long 2mm diameter steel rod into before adhering the board together. The rods themselves were readily available from amazon and I cut them into the appropriate lengths.
