2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1
Zero-to-Sixty in 2.85 Seconds, But Can it Carry Your Groceries?
Yes, the Chevy Corvette ZR1 can carry your groceries home, provided all you purchased was a pack of gum. Oh, and naturally, you’ll get home is less time than it takes to open that pack of gum. Squeezing a thundering herd of 755-horsepower underneath the landmark carbon-fiber halo hood delivers the needed get-up-and-go for you to be get-up-and-gone.
Ready to plunk down $125,000 for your own ZR1, well hold on to your bucket seat, pardner; you’ll learn how to really put the pedal to the metal with a gratis 2-day Corvette driving school at the track-focused Ron Fellows Performance Driving School. At this school of hot wheels, you will receive an “intimate, high-energy, track-focused program designed specifically to help you fully experience the breathtaking performance of your ZR1.” And, naturally, it’ll also squeeze every last ounce of testosterone out of your quivering male body.
The Model
This model has been designed to print on any 3D printer with a 6-x 6-inch build bed. The scale is roughly 1:32. There is a printable STL file with a set of tires/wheels and a passenger side door (with a spare door) included with this model. Please note, you must use support when printing this model. The standard support setting used in your preferred slicing/printing software (e.g., Cura) is ideal for adding this required support.
If you’d like to elevate this 3D print to the status of an elite plastic model car, then you should consider purchasing two conventional plastic model car kit donors for supplementing your print. You can use this kit, AMT 1966 Chevy Nova Pro Street (A636M-200), for an engine block. Use the engine from Step 14 which doesn’t have a transmission fused to the block. Additionally, the 1:32 Scale AMT ‘63 Stingray “Scale Stars” (A1112-300) plastic model kit can be used for a better set of tires with scale chrome wheels. You might also be able to extract the two bucket seats, instrument panel, and steering wheel from this kit.
Both of these donor kits can be purchased from your local Hobby Lobby. Don’t pay list price for either of these kits. Every two weeks, Hobby Lobby has a 40% sale on all boxed model kits. Remember, friends don’t let friends buy plastic model kits at list price.
Finally, the recommended cement for construction is Testors Cement for Plastic Models (#3501).
Enjoy.
