The 1967 Taipan was MSX's first ever muscle car and was availiable with their first V8, but the standard Taipan 5.0L V8, which came in S and GT specifications, was still slower than the lighter, more powerful 6 cylinder GT6. In 1968 MSX decided that their most powerful model should be a V8, and made the GTX, which increased the 5.0L engine's power from 207 to 228hp, which meant it was faster than the GT6 in a straight line. However the GT6 handled better than the GTX, and was faster around most race tracks. he only transmission option was a 4 speed manual. It had lowered suspension, a panhard bar, front disc brakes, front bucket seats, 8 track cartridge player, leather seats, 4 seatbelts, wood rimmed wheel and stripes. The S1 Taipan Coupe was the first MSX to be exported to America. Credit to Nati, Rogue.
