3-story mercantile building originally completed in about 1814 as a dwelling. This brick, Greek revival-style former house was owned by Isaac Lawrence, who sold to William N. Gilbert in 1844. The house may have been altered or built at that time. By 1883, the house had been at least partly converted to commercial usage and was occupied by a manufacturer of show cases. In 1887, it was occupied by a wire maker, then a machinery company in 1941, and finally a boot maker, E. Vogel, since 1970. E. Vogel has been making custom boots and shoes in New York since 1879. The company was established by Egidius Vogel in lower Manhattan very close to its present location on Howard Street. http://wikimapia.org/#lang=es&lat=40.719107&lon=-74.000339&z=20&m=b&show=/27408888/ #building #howard #new #states #united #usa #york
