**EDIT: Added improved filter mount mk2 (slightly wider and more flexible) and created a modified outer ring to take metal inserts (2x M10 Hex nuts and 4x M4x10mm brass threaded inserts).
To create a working filter adapter, you’ll require the following printed parts:
1x Outer Ring
2x Filter Mount
2x Mounting Ring (guide to choosing correct diameter below)
1x Shroud 102mm with sides- single piece. OR 1x Shroud 102mm (interchangeable sides) and 2x Shroud interchangeable side piece (additional steel bolts required for interchangeable shroud).
2x Retaining Pin
2x M10x 30mm (for larger lenses) or 55mm bolts (for smaller lenses). Recommend purchasing nylon or steel bolts, printed ones are available however.
4x E-clips (can use steel R clips instead, details below)
Additionally, you’ll require:
4x M4 x 35mm bolts (steel)
Optional (but highly recommended)
2x steel springs 0.4mm x 9mm x 25mm (wire diameter x outer diameter x length).
Adhesive felt lining or matte black spray paint, to reduce internal reflections on the shroud.
4x R clips (steel) 1.2mmx22mm (wire diameter x length) to use in place of the 3d printed E-Clips.
Rubber non-slip tape or spray on rubber coating, for coating the inside of the Mounting Rings (ensures better grip).
If you print the shroud with interchangeable sides, you’ll also need 4x M4 x 6-12mm bolts.
Note Threaded holes may need to be tapped out using a tap and die set, depending on the resolution of your printer. I find forcing female threads with a steel bolt works well.
The holes for the Retaining Pin and the Lens Mounting Rings may need to be drilled out with an 8mm drill bit. Retaining Pins should be sanded down to allow the Lens Mounting Rings to easily slide along them.
Camera lenses will require a smooth even surface ~18mm wide to successfully mount the adapter. Print a Lens Mounting Ring LARGER THAN the diameter of your lens. For example, if your lens has a diameter of 85mm you will require the 88mm Lens Mounting Ring. Lenses will not accept a Mounting Ring smaller than their diameter. Additionally, due to shrinkage in printed parts, lenses will generally require a Lens Mounting Ring ~1mm larger than measured (an 85mm Lens will generally work best with a ~86mm Lens Mounting Ring).
