This crazy thing is a 12v power adapter and 12v outlet. Its a simple 3d printed case that takes a LTC3780 module, a toggle switch and a normal car / marine power outlet or old fashioned car cigarette lighter socket, whatever you call it. Its designed to print in 3 parts and to be mounted onto a wooden panel.
The idea is to use this to power your electronic equipment rather than an inverter. Using DC voltage is more efficient than AC when the particular appliances you want to use only needs below 30v DC.
Why use a LTC3780 module? This module is a buck boost converter it can regulate voltage up and down. This means if the source voltage fluctuates like it might if there was a solar panel charging a battery or if an engine is charging a battery the voltage can go to 14v + or below 12v and sometimes small appliances wont tolerate these fluctuations.
