A popular video showed up on Youtube on how to make a 100W led flashlight. He uses a huge CPU cooler but I found that I could just use a small one and it won't get that warm.
So that's why I created this flashlight housing. The CPU cooler is press fitted. It latches on to the layers of the plastic so it stays put, but it isn't perfect. I'll try to run some tests to see how long it will work. Enjoy!
Materials used:
CPU cooler from AMD A4-3400 (I paid 10 euro's for it (Yes, that's including the CPU!))
(I believe all FM1 and maybe other AMD socket CPU coolers are identical)100W LED (~4 USD)LED Lens (~3.5 USD)150W DC-DC Boost Converter (~3,5 USD)Heatsink paste for mounting the LED to the cooler (~1 USD)10K Ohm resistor for dimmer control 5x (~2.5 USD) (or any 10k pot with M7 screw)Potentiometer cap x10 (~1.5 USD)Switch 5x (~2 USD) (or any ~22mm switch)Zippy Compact 2200mAh 3s LiPo (~12 USD)LiPo battery monitor(~1.5 USD)(not sure if this will fit at all, I left it out)
And then two m3 screws for securing the boost converter, three m2 screws for the lids, some wires, a female XT60 connector and two ~11K resistors.
