03JUN: Updated model to include 2 viscoelastic pads to better dampen motion in both directions, but tradeoff is taller profile. Also included a photo to show how the concept could be quickly evaluated at the "hack-a-thon" using Legos, allowing adjustments without having to 3D print multiple prototypes.
--------------------
Using viscoelastic inserts similar to those used in the construction industry, this assembly includes a hinge to reflect the wrist application. Some variations to consider:
1) Rotate hinge 90 degrees to address "rotational" tremors.
2) Replace hinge with ball joint to increase range of motion.
3) Eliminate the hinge? (Don't know enough about viscoelastic materials and how they are attached).
4) Eliminate spring by 3D printing plates with variable density resin.
5) Allow the forearm plate (green) to slide and/or flex within a holder mounted to the arm to allow more wrist flex.
6) Add 2nd pad and mounting bracket on top to enhance dampening in both directions (if thicker profile acceptable).
7) Add a pad between the hand and the plate to enhance dampening and/or to reduce irritation due to rubbing.
