The advantage of this design reveals in its simplicity and ease of use. The major benefit is that both parts are identical. The locking mechanism can be adjusted by editing the model in order to achieve different tension for the lock.

Key features:
• Two identical parts that interlock around the hand rail
• Two options for mounting the connecting stud – L-track is on the top and on the bottom
• All the parts are 3D-printable (using ABS with FDM printer) – tested
• No parts of the printed details works under a load that is in the same direction as layer direction. It is done in order to avoid the failure of the bond between the layers (the weakest mechanical property of FDM printed details)

Concept parameters:
• Weight: 0.068 lbs / 30,7 g
• Volume: 1.586 in³ / 25 983 mm³
• Dimensions: 1.561 x 2.152 x 1.969 in / 39.6 x 54.7 x 50.0 mm
• Number of prints required: 1 (considering ISS Additive Manufacturing Capability)

Conformity to the requirements:
1. Provides a rigid connection to the handrail
2. Provides a seat track interface
3. All sharp edges have been rounded according to the defined parameters
4. The designed CHAMP fits the envelope of 1” from the cross-sectional perimeter of the handrail and 5” along the handrail axis.
5. No additional tools or materials are required for assembly, installation, removal and disassembly.
6. STL files have suitable mesh accuracy for 3D printing and STEP files are attached.
7. The parts are printed as shown on the attached images. The printing of the details will use (-45,45) layer build-up.
