The Daemon Jet Engine Redesign

I designed this turbine jet engine not only as a large project which involved separate parts in forming one assembly but a way to test my knowledge of the software and the ability to apply it to a project. Through the design process, I applied the knowledge I knew but more importantly, I learnt new methods and functions within the software which I never knew how to do. This advance my Cad skills and in the future the new methods and functions will help me with more complex projects. Also, I recently downloaded Autodesk's software Autodesk CFD (computational fluid dynamics) which allowed me to simulate the different parts of the engine and see the effect that they experience in a virtual wind tunnel. This allowed me to truly understand not only what parts function is in the engine, but it expanded my knowledge of how a jet engine works.

If you are going to 3D print the model scale it to any size you require. It is sized for a Makerbot generation 5 print bed. After the print you will need:

A set of files
Sand paper

Final Comments
Objectives: I wanted to share my interest in mechanical and aerospace engineering with the world. I have had problems explaining how something as complex as a jet engine works to friends so what better way to explain an Engineering principal then to produce a moving model of a real Jet turbine engine which you can physically hold in your hands. By doing this it will allow me to teach anyone younger or even older how a jet engine works and the different parts and their separate jobs.

Results: By the end of printing and making the jet engine you should have learnt how it works and be able to name the different parts and what they contribute to make the Jet Turbine Engine work and even explain it to someone else.
